This policy covers playbops.com — the website where teachers create classroom games and students play them. It is published by Playbops (contact: privacy@playbops.com), which is the data controller for the purposes of the UK/EU GDPR.
The short version. We collect nothing from students. A student opens a link and plays: no account, no email, no name, no cookie, no advertising identifier, no tracking. The only personal data we hold belongs to teachers who choose to sign in, and it is their email address. There is no advertising on this site of any kind.
Nothing that identifies a student. Playing a game requires no sign-in and sets no cookie. We do not collect names, emails, ages, classes, scores tied to a person, IP-based identifiers, or device advertising IDs, and we do not embed third-party advertising or analytics scripts in the games.
The one exception, and exactly what it is for. If someone browses the game feed at /games on their own and plays from there, we create an anonymous sign-in — a random identifier with no name, email or age attached — used for one purpose only: remembering which games that person has already played, so the feed can suggest one they have not. United States children's privacy law permits this as support for internal operations, specifically personalising content (16 CFR 312.2). We do not use it to contact anyone, we show no advertising of any kind, we do not build a profile for any other purpose, and we never connect it to our website analytics. It can be erased at any time from the profile button in the feed, which deletes the list immediately. None of this happens when a teacher shares a class code — that path creates no identifier at all, because the teacher has already chosen the game and there is nothing to personalise.
When a game loads, the page sends a single anonymous counter — the event name and which game — and the server records only a daily total:

That is the entire record. It is a tally, not a log: no row is ever associated with a person, a session, a device or an IP address, so it cannot be traced back to any individual — including by us.
Because no personal data of children is processed, this service does not rely on parental consent, and a school does not need to obtain one to let pupils play.
pb_s) — set after you sign in so you stay signed in. It contains your email address and a signature, is HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax, and is used for nothing but keeping you logged in. No cookie is set for anyone who has not signed in, and we set no marketing or advertising cookies anywhere on the site.pb_seen) — stored by your own browser on these teacher pages so we can count how many visitors are returning. It is a date and nothing else: it contains no identifier, it is never sent to us, and all our servers ever receive is whether a visit was a first or a repeat one. It expires after 180 days, and clearing your browser data removes it.We do not process special-category data, we do not profile anyone, and we make no automated decisions with legal effects.

We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising. There are no ad networks and no advertising identifiers on this site.
If you are in the UK/EU you may request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing. Email privacy@playbops.com and we will act within 30 days. Deleting a teacher account removes the email address and the games attached to it.
You may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Our infrastructure providers operate globally and may process data outside your country under the safeguards described in their own agreements (Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).
If this policy changes materially we update the date at the top. This version replaces an earlier policy that described a mobile app with advertising and camera features; that product is not part of playbops.com and its advertising integration was removed in August 2026.
